Helping Victims
of the Santa Rose Fires
Recently, Ms. Sterling and her class decided to help victims of the recent fires. We would like to thank everyone who helped donate money and items for this project and Ms. Sterling for organizing it. Here is a description of their efforts:
Sadly, Redwood Adventist Academy in Santa Rosa burned on October 9th. The building and all its contents were a total loss. This is the school where Ms. Sterling did her student teaching. Teachers there posted a list of things they needed to get started. The Earl Warren 4th grade students decided that they wanted the students there to each have their own pencil boxes of supplies. Donated funds purchased the boxes and students brought school supplies and filled 36 boxes with pencils, colored pencils/markers, glue sticks, pens, erasers, scissors, and then students wrote a personal note to go into each box.
Thanks to the money donated by Earl Warren students and staff members, we were also able to send sports equipment including balls, orange cones, and a set of portable soccer goals.
Finally, the Sacramento City Unified School District’s math department helped get math material and manipulatives. On Monday, October 23rd, the materials were delivered to their administration who will get them to the teachers/students.
The students of RAA have now started back to school in a temporary location.
